Wayne W. Dyer is one of the ultimate self-help gurus, and a man you would likely want to be best friends with if you had the chance to meet him in person. Dyer was heavily influenced by the teachings of Lao Tzu, Saint Francis of Assisi, Swami Mutananda, and Abraham Maslow’s concept of self-actualization. He melted the views of his philosophical and psychological role models together to create his own life philosophy and shared these thoughts with others via his writing. Many of which remind his readers that they are in control of what they feel and how they react to their lives and others in it. Even though Dyer has passed, his words continue to beam with a realism and positivity that will live on in the hearts and the minds of those who have been exposed to his work.

1. “When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself.”

2. “You cannot be lonely if you like the person you’re alone with.”

3. “You are not stuck where you are unless you decide to be.”

4. “Circumstances do not make a man, they reveal him.”

5. “I am thankful to all those who said no. It’s because of them, I did it myself.”

6. “You are in a partnership with all other human beings, not a contest to be judged better than some and worse than others.”

7. “Make peace with silence, and remind yourself that it is in this space that you’ll come to remember your spirit. When you’re able to transcend an aversion to silence, you’ll also transcend many other miseries.”

8. “You’ll seldom experience regret for anything that you’ve done. It is what you haven’t done that will torment you. The message, therefore, is clear. Do it! Develop an appreciation for the present moment. Seize every second of your life and savor it.”

9. “All blame is a waste of time. No matter how much fault you find with another, it will not change you.”

10. “If you meet someone whose soul is not aligned with yours, send them love and move along.”

11. “I’m convinced that some of our greatest and most influential teachers show up in our lives disguised as people we resent or even despise.”

12. “No one knows enough to be a pessimist.”

13. “Love is the ability and willingness to allow those that you care for to be what they choose for themselves without any insistence that they satisfy you.”

14. “Attachment to being right creates suffering. When you have a choice to be right, or to be kind, choose kind and watch your suffering disappear.”

15. “No one can create negativity or stress within you. Only you can do that by virtue of how you process your world.”

16. “You cannot fail, you can only produce results.”

17. “You know, to me, the most beautiful things in all the universe, are the most mysterious.”

18. “There is one grand lie – that we are limited. The only limits we have are the limits we believe.”

19. “Judgments prevent us from seeing the good that lies beyond appearances.”

20. “I am realistic – I expect miracles.”
