Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or “Tapping” is an ancient practice akin to acupuncture or acupressure. It functions on the idea that energy runs through the body in meridians, and when there are blocks to those meridians, you experience patterns of physical and emotional discomfort in your life.

How to do it:

You want to take your pointer and middle finger of your dominant hand, and gently tap on the meridian points featured below, while focusing on the issue that you want to release. It’s crucial that you focus on the feeling you want to release, not just that you tap at random. You want to keep going until you feel a shift in the intensity of your emotions. Experiencing some shaking or sensitivity at the spot of tapping is totally normal.

What will happen is that by combining the repeated physical pressure with a positive affirmation (or release of the negative) you’ll input kinetic energy into the meridian point, which when aroused will increase activity in the amygdala, which will clear the “short-circuit” of whatever you’re physically or emotionally “stuck” on. When repeated and done thoroughly, it rebalances the body’s bioenergy system.
