What college kids are doing to prepare for work and what hiring managers actually look for does not match up. College kids are being prepared for an industry that’s 15 years evolved past where their education ends. This doesn’t mean all hope is lost, it means there’s an opportunity to reach and expand ourselves. Complaining of our ill-preparation brings us no closer to actually succeeding.
Your dreams deserve your attention and your respect. You will succeed with humility, and only by asking the questions that close the gap between where you are and where you want to be. Here, watch Soul Anatomy’s Editorial Director, Katie Marshall, discuss this and more in her 2013 TED Talk on what closes the gap between a young professional and a new college grad.
